Energy Saving Opportunities for
Eligible Residential Customers

Ameren Illinois is committed to helping you find ways to improve comfort, manage usage, and reduce costs. By participating in one of our energy-saving Programs, income eligible homeowners and renters and multifamily property owners and managers can save energy and lower their energy bill.

A FREE Home Energy Assessment starts with a professional contractor who will conduct an assessment of your home’s energy use to find no-cost upgrades in your home. Energy saving products installed in your home may include insulation, air sealing, ventilation, and more. This Home Energy Assessment is offered for FREE to eligible Ameren Illinois customers. There is no charge for the Home Energy Assessment or for the products and services provided.

 


Need financial assistance? The Energy Assistance Foundation can help! The Energy Assistance Foundation provides year-round bill payment assistance to help low-to-moderate income customers of Ameren Illinois.

Residential customers living eligible ZIP codes can receive a $0 smart thermostat.

Switching to heat supplied through electricity instead of propane not only saves you money on heating costs, but it gives you the convenience and reliability of using Ameren Illinois electric already being used in your home.

As a renter, you may feel as though you don’t have control over the energy costs in your home. Eligible renters living in an income eligible multifamily property or a single family home qualify for energy efficiency upgrades through the Ameren Illinois Energy Efficiency Program. If you live in a multifamily building, complete the following request form and let our Program Staff know you are interested in energy-efficiency upgrades.



To participate in the Assessment, your property manager or owner will need to sign up on behalf of your building.

Are you a renter living in a single family home? Ameren Illinois will work with tenants and their landlords to make free energy efficiency improvements to single family homes. These improvements will bring benefits to the landlord and make the home more comfortable while helping the tenant manage their energy bills. To participate in this program, the landlord and tenant must complete the following Landlord Consent Form.



A single-family home is a free-standing residential building. Single-family homes are designed to be used as a single-dwelling unit, with one owner, no shared walls, and its own land.
If you own or manage a multifamily property, we may be able to help you and your tenants save energy, reduce water usage, and lower water heating costs. Request a FREE Energy Assessment for your property. After your Assessment you will receive a comprehensive list of available upgrades and incentives that are available for your property.

Ameren Illinois Program Staff is available to provide technical and financial assistance to Public Housing Authority (PHAs) to improve tenant comfort, manage usage, and reduce costs. PHAs are eligible to receive incentives for energy efficiency upgrades for their projects that service income eligible residents. Ameren Illinois can help you with the development of your plans at the start of your project to maximize eligible incentives to help improve your residents comfort, manage usage, and reduce costs.

Home Weatherization Services

The Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program (IHWAP), in partnership with Ameren Illinois, helps low income residents and households reduce energy costs by making their homes and apartments more energy efficient. IHWAP also provides many health and safety upgrades ensuring safe and healthy homes. Weatherization services that can be funded through IHWAP include:


• Air sealing

• Attic and wall insulation

• HVAC repair or replacement

• Water heater repair or replacement

• Electric base load reduction (lighting and refrigerator replacement)

• Ventilation and moisture control measures (and other health and safety measures)

 



Utility Bill Assistance – Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) 

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps eligible low-income households pay for home energy services (primarily heating during winter months).
